Ummm... well, I think what you should consider doing is check your local newspaper for any advertisements for Fathers Day deals and specials.. thats a start.

Why not consider making a meal at home to cut down on costs? The more personal touch minus the crowds and PMS of people still waiting to be seated if you know what I mean?

Texas Roadhouse... steaks, some seafood, burgers ... you can do portion control. Just ask them to not leave the bread with ya :)

Most steak houses have plain veggies as a side choice, or a sweet potato. Get yourself a lean cut of meat or some grilled chicken and enjoy!

So I'm probably going to have some people disagree with me, but Applebee's makes a pretty good steak. And they have a low-cal section of the menu that is delicious! I don't know about Chili's steaks, but they also offer a low-cal section on their menu.

Go to a steakhouse. He can order whatever he likes and you can either order something & only eat half or you can get some grilled chicken with a side of veggies.
  • Thank you everyone for the great ideas

Two of my faorite restaurants to eat at now are Outback and Ruby Tuesday's. Both offer meals that are naturally or can be prepared under 500 calories, and they are designated by a symbol on the menu. I had the petite sirloin and shrimp with seasonal side veggies, an extra side of aspargus and the house salad. I also had a small piece of the bread. I came out just a little over 500 calories, but i think it is because I only ate half of the steak.

It's Father's Day. Why would you be eating anything?

Perhaps you could eat a sandwich at home before you go.

Nothing says love like mass-produced, chain-restaurant food.

Believe it or not, Cheesecake factory has a diet menu now too, it's called "Skinnylicious"

But I would avoid that place like the plague on a holiday!

I'm cooking cuz my honey has to be at work at 6pm. Grilled BBQ Chicken Kabobs, Grilled Italian-Style Potato Salad and Key LIme Cheesecake squares. But if I were to go out to a steakhouse, I would either get a 4-6 oz lean sirloin or grilled chicken or grilled fish with steamed veggies and/or baked potato (sweet potato is better for you but I don't like them). If you decide early enough where you are going you can always check to see if they have a website with nutritional information on it and choose your meal that way. Have fun though and don't stress over it. It's one meal. Enjoy your time with your hubby.

Applebees comes to mind, but the quality of them varies so much.
There are three Applebees within 10 miles of my house, one is great, the others are horrible. I don't know how they can vary so much.

That said, aren't there any non-chains near you?
I have found that you will pay about $20 to $30 for a good steak whether you are at Applebees or a good restaurant, so choose a good restaurant.
