    So, 1200 calories of a well planned, varied diet will keep most women from developing deficiencies- it does not imply that they will be healthy, just that they *probably* won't get rickets (for example).
    I managed to get close to nutritionally complete with about 1100 calories of food on a nutrition software package, I was slightly short of zinc and potassium and well down on calcium and magnesium. So a bit of lo-salt and a Ca/Mg/Zn supplement would fix it.

    The proprietary VLCDs are nutritionally complete at 800 or less calories, even 400 - 600 in some cases.
