What would you rather have?

A new Ferrari or a child? Just read an article on Yahoo! that the government says that on average $235,000 is spent on a child from birth to the age of 17. So which one would you rather have? (And no I'm not trying to choose one over the other, I just thought this would be interesting to see what people say/think about this)
And here's the link to the article: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/middle-income-family-spends-235-122901140.html

Child for me. The money would be spent on the future in a way. Also you can only do so much in a Ferrari that's fun, where as- when you raise a child you never know what to expect for fun (or anything else for that matter). Besides if the child is a success when they grow up there might be a possibility they buy me a Ferrari (lol- like a hot wheels one).0

I love your response, the whole "If the child is a success they might buy you a Ferrari" :laugh:0 -
i'll take a Prius and a dog over a ferrari and a kid0

I'm about 6 weeks pregnant, so I'd want my baby.0
-
A child. Earlier this year, I had a miscarriage. I would much rather have my baby, than a car.0
-
dang! I have 3 kids.... theyre going to cost me HOW much!?? ouch!0
-
I have a child. I'll keep him and have a Ferrari too thanks0

I have it figured this way.
The kids = $235k
The Ferrari = $235
The upkeep/maintenance and repairs on the car: Enough to cover a very nice mental institution when I'm done.
Okay, okay.... I'll be fine. And I'd rather pay for their college, or a down payment on a first house.... something like that. So the kids - I love my crazy maniac children.0 -
Well personally, I've tried for 2 years and can't have bio children so I think my choice is clear. Besides if I got a Ferrari I would never see it bc my husband would probably never let me drive it!0

It's easy for me: Ferrari
#1 - I'm too old to have another kid (well...I just don't want another)
#2 - I can sell the Ferrari and put my kid(s) through college
#3 - There is no #3...but I put that in there just for the heck of it.0 -
Neither. Already have one kid and don't need the car. Do you know how long you can live on that much money in some countries? Freedom over material goods.0
-
Child. Unfortunately my uterus seems to evict its tenants around the 9 week mark. FML0
-
That's is a stupid statistic! Where did they get their data? Is this how much it cost to give food stamps to parent that have never worked their children's entire life?0

Neither. I have enough kids and don't want anymore. I totally happy with my Accord.0

The money. I don't want a fancy car, and I don't want a child.0

I'm only 25 so I'd want the car. If anything, I'll take a ring first, then the kid. At least 5+ more years for that to happen0

  I have 3 also!!!0 -
Child. A car is a car, there is only so much it can do. Children are wonderful, spontaneous, loving, beautiful little people. I may be biased as I've already got 2 kids, but I would never choose a material thing over an amazing child that I would get to love for the rest of my life.0
