Saying Good Bye to my Best Friend

The nukitator. The zapper. The bell box (my two year old came up with this one!). The microwave.

Oh, I love(d) my microwave deeply. We had such a wonderful relationship. Always there when I needed him, ready to heat some (usually unhealthy) convenience food for a quick bite, thaw some frozen chicken quickly (because I forgot to make a meal plan) or re-heat some (day- or three-old) leftovers for a meal... *sigh*

That said.... I vow to never own a microwave again.

AND, I feel really good about that decision!! BUT that's honestly not what this post is about!! Haha...

I'm wondering for those of you out there who've removed this appliance, what methods have you used to re heat things?

I mean, yes, obviously, the stove, I'm not dim, or anything, but specifically.... I feel like I have to add oil or butter to keep most things from burning, thus adding calories.... so what do you guys do?

Also, if it matters, I pretty much only use my cast iron pans and pot thoughI do have one regular pot but I prefer the iron, which adds to the trickiness of this! Oh, and my stove is gas (hooray!!)

We use our toaster oven really often. Usually instead of the microwave.

I haven't had a microwave for about 5 years now. In its place I have the Breville Convection/Toaster Oven. It is awesome and even though it takes longer to cook/reheat things using the Breville or the stovetop, it is so much better for you and your food! Oh, and I use cast iron as well and to reheat or cook I use olive oil that I spray using the Misto sprayer ($10 at bed bath and beyond), it gives you just enough oil without all of the calories. :)
