Need to exercise but needs to be free!

Does anyone have an idea of how I can exercise at home but keep up the motivation to do it every week!

I walk, and log in here. I've made a lot of MFP friends, and reading their success stories motivates me!
You can add me if you like!

depends whether you mean in the home or just around home for free. the obvious is walk/run depending on fitness. I dont pay for excercise and I went from way over 200 lbs and not being able to run to now running ok.

motivation is free on MFP friend people and they will keep you going

There are lots of DVDs. You can check some out of the library and try them out. You can check the website Collage Videos, they sell so many and have a little clip of each to get and idea of what they are like. And many MFP have left You Tube free videos for you to look at for ideas. A good walk always works. I wish you lots of luck...asking the many members, is always a great idea. I bet you will get lots of suggestions. Have a great day.
  • Ok, so look on your TV guide schedule and DVR some exercise shows to follow.
Sometimes you can find cheap workout videos at Wal-mart, K-Mart, etc.
When weather permits find a running/walking track, take your Ipod and
    do some laps. Good Luck!

A few things that I do that have worked well for me: Jillian Michaels DVDs (I've got The 30 Day Shred, Banish Fat Boot Metabolism, No More Trouble Zones and Ripped in 30) they are all great and of varying lengths so there is always one that I can fit in - for example The 30 Day Shred workouts are about 24 minutes long! I also have 'You Are Your Own Gym' by Mark Lauren on my kindle which is a great book and includes 3 ten week workout plans, and lastly I've just got a copy of P90X which scares me a bit but I'm planning on starting on Monday... I also run but it is winter and really cold, plus I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old so it isn't really easy to go when I want.
As for motivation, I've entered a half marathon in October - to keep me honest in my running, and I found having a heart rate monitor motivating for the DVDs, I liked to see if I could burn more calories doing the same workout - which means I had to go harder as I got fitter. There are also some great motivational threads in the success stories section of the message boards.

Like a few people have said, walking, if you dont want to leave the house, and you have a smartphone there's loads of free apps, here's a few I use.

Absolute Abs - nice and quick app, each one takes about ten minutes too.
Map My Run - helps you plot were you've run or walked gives you the calories burned too.
C25K - Really helps you get motivated to start running, the first day takes 30 minutes, however you only run 8 times and for 1 minute each time

    Hope that helps

Check out my blog, it gives you more insight into the apps.

I jogged while washing up one day this week, but that was fuelled by my fitbit.

Another fun one I used to do was jog or dance or whatever for the length of the spin cycle on the washing machine (13 minutes).

DS reminded me the 100 push-ups challenge (google it).

    There's loads of options :)
