Wouldn't surprise me at all if a fertility drug could mess with your water retention. Those are hormones, right?

Fertility drugs are notorious for causing weight gain.

Talk to your doctor. Fertility drugs do cause weight gain, but i think at this point you aren't supposed to be worrying about gaining weight, you have other issues to deal with. From what I understand, you also should not be "exercising like mad" while taking fertility drugs as this could not only undo what you are trying to do, it could cause other problems

"Exercise is bad if you are taking fertility drugs because the medications make the ovaries grow. Normally the ovaries are about the size of a walnut, and the drugs increase the number of follicles, therefore the ovarian size increases. Sometimes the ovaries can get to the size of plums or even oranges. They hang inside the pelvis. As they become heavier, they become more likely to twist, and this is called torsion. Here the twisting cuts off the blood supply and causes the ovary to choke. This really hurts, and is treated by laparoscopy. Exercise will increase the odds of this twisting. So in this case, exercise is not good. "

If you haven't increased your calories above your TDEE, it's unlikely that you gained anything but water weight. I don't think that you should concern yourself with this; just like you wouldn't concern yourself with gaining water weight on your period/TOM. More importantly, this may help you prepare yourself mentally for gaining weight during pregnancy.

Also, I would suggest you talk to your doctor before quitting exercise. My understanding is that intense exercise during some fertility treatments (mainly IVF) might not be a good idea, but low-impact exercise is fine. I am thinking that you probably already discussed exercise with your doctor? Good luck!

Intense exercise makes you retain a bit of water for a few days, because muscles need water to repair themselves. :) I would take a rest day, drink plenty of water and cut down my sodium, and not worry about it.

hi thanks for the advice. i have been doing zumba now for 4 months and have lost over 1 stone doing with calorie restriction also. i was losing and i started clomid this month and since i havnt lost a thing in 3 weeks. how can a fertility drug make you gain weight if calories out vs is always more?
i do feel like i am bloated and heavy and have felt quite tired the past few days and usually i am full of energy. i might have slacked on the water a little so i am back on that.
i am prepared to gain some weight during pregnancy. i need to control this i gained 4 stone with my last 2 pregnancies and dont want to go there again i have been fighting a battle since i had the depo shot in 2003 and have never been able to get past 11 stone 7 which is the point i am stuck at now. i need to be around 9 stone to be healthy.
has anyone got any good ideas to try and push past this stage? eat more eat less? i am already at full exertion with exercise and dont want to do anymore. my diet is balanced so the quality of food is good. i do drink occasionally but have knocked that on the head these past few days and i will never go above my TDEE which is 1800 i dont even go above my RMR which is 1500 . something is gonna have to give eventually. any tips and more advice would be greatly appreciated :)
