Tips on making Healthy = Convenient

Hi,

Although I love eating healthy food, when I'm hungry I usually opt for whatever is most handy. Unfortunately, that usually means junk food or the drive through, and I know eating those kinds of foods are counter to what I'm trying to achieve, but my brain doesn't understand that when my stomach is rumbling. lol

So since being a convenience eater is my main problem, I guess I'm not looking for tips on how to say no to the bad stuff, but more on how to make eating healthy "more convenient"?

:o)

Take healthy snacks with you wherever you go. Almonds are great. Maybe if you're hungry and eat a little something, it can help you go get somewhere where you can get something healthy. If you're a fast-food-aholic, try picking up a copy of "Eat This Not That" - at least one of those books gives ideas of healthier options for fast food. Of course, fast food in general isn't healthy, but a better choice is better than the alternative.

I always have an apple and/or protein bar, bottle of water and even a low fat string cheese with me if I know I'll be out running errands, etc. These have saved me many, many times since I began this weight loss journey. :)

Ever try picking food up at the local grocery store's deli? They have vegetable platters all cut up and ready to eat (get the hummus kind, not the ranch) and the whole herb roasted chicken is affordable and healthy, they have many other healthy options there. Take a look, I especially like Safeway for this because they usually have a lot more than other stores, though Fry's is pretty good too.

i agree with you. Those are all things that satisfy my appetite between meals too: fiber and protein
