I am an overweight music teacher with depression. If you are a teacher and find that the stress of your job makes it so hard to stay on a diet I hope you'll add me as a friend and If you suffer from depression and that hurts your goals, or medication makes it so hard I hope you'll do the same. I am starting a blog writing about my issues with depression and stress. I hope we can collaborate with different strategies for dealing with stress

So happy to here someone talk about this! I suffer from depression/anxiety/panic attacks. I am currently taking Paxil. I just started it a couple of weeks ago. I also recently discovered I have high blood pressure, so I am also on medication for that. I am so weak and tired all the time! I'm not a teacher, but do have a very stressful job in an office. I will be sure and check out your blog.0

i have been down the road of depression, altough i feel i am much better now and have not had a recourse of it in a while
however, i have major anxiety issues, i used to take ativan, but i honestly prefer harnessing my mental state. it may not work for everyone obviously, but i personally don't like taking drugs into my body, it is just my choice. though i know they are tried, tested and true!0 -
I'm so happy people want to discuss this. I am currently between medications, but I found that my depression was stopping me from enjoying everything in life. And it was definitely stopping me from counting my calories and exercising.0

I've tried not taking medicine. I went a year without anything up until a couple of weeks ago. But my anxiety is getting so bad that I have a hard time driving a car or riding with anybody else. I have social anxiety really bad too. It seemed like it was just getting worse and worse. So I had to try something. Has anybody else tried Paxil??0

I've struggled with severe depression/ anxiety for so many years that it just feels like a part of me, and my life now. I've had little luck with antidepressants, and have tried most of them through the years. The one that worked for me was Celexa. I took for about 3 years, and although I didn't feel 100% better, I definitely felt measurably better. I stopped taking it when it started to be less effective. I had terrible withdrawal symptoms including severe headaches which I am still trying to deal with 3 years later. Now when I take a/d medications, my headaches generally get worse, so I feel kind of stuck at this point. I've been taking a low dose of Elavil for the past couple of months to try to deal with the pain. It all but stopped my headaches almost immedicately, but I keep going up in dosage as it stops relieving the pain, and it's having less effect. What a struggle.
An upside of the Elavil is I got the motivation to lose weight for some reason...most people gain weight on this medication, but it's the first time I've felt motivated in years. I'm afraid to stop taking it, and I'm afraid that either way I'll get so depressed that I'll lost my motivation for weight loss...0
