I will add some golden raisins
Carrot salad, raw carrot grated, squeeze lemon juice over the top to stop it going brown and add a spoon of sugar to balance it... no dressing needed but super super yummy!

    Mixed greens
Any fruit (Strawberries, sauteed pears, etc)
Any stinky cheese like bleu cheese, You can also use feta.
Any crunch. Usually nuts, but can be sunflower seeds or even crispy pieces of bacon.
Slightly sweet dressing. I like a balsamic glaze with no oil but you could use rasberry vinegarette etc

my fave is a sort of copy of a bob evans salad:

Raw Spinach or roamine, Chicken Breast, Shelled Walnuts, Ocean Spray - Craisins, Apple, Red Delicious, Fat Free Raspberry Vinaigrette

Yummy, that is one of my favorites from them! Although I sub in a different apple as I really don't like red delicious.

I made this salad when I was a meat eater.

Steak, lightly brushed with olive oil then completely crusted with black pepper, grilled and cut into slices.
    Radishes.
    Mushrooms.
    Blue cheese crumbles.
    Real bacon bits.
    Mixed greens.
    Balsamic vinegar/olive oil dressing.

    This was AMAZING.

    Taco salad:
    lettuce
    red peppers
    green onion
    black beans
    corn
taco meat (either beef or chicken)
    a smidge of shredded cheese
salsa mixed with sour cream for dressing

It's so filling and absolutely delicious!

Yum! i bet plain yogurt would taste good as a replacement for the sour cream too

i put a bag of ready pac baby spinach spring mix with broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, sugar snap peas, cherrub tomatoes, mushrooms and cucumbers. Then for the dressing i mix equal parts fresh lemon juice to olive oil (the more expensive kind) and about 2-4 cloves of garlic depending on how much salad you are making. you can top of with parmesean cheese and crutons if youd like, but its good without. I also put in avocado and cranberries, but not everyone likes those things

lettuce, tomatoes, olives, pickles, boiled egg.
(when not lowcarbing - croutons! and honey mustard dressing.)
toss a burger (cheese optional) and bacon on top and you'll never miss the bread.
  • Romaine Hearts
    Baby Romaine
    Iceberg
    Boston
    Sprouts
    Carrots
    Cucumbers
    Red and Green Peppers
Garlic and Onion Croutons (no fat)
    Ranch
and when I was eating meat--grilled chicken breast.
Now I use balsamic vinegar instead of ranch and nix the chix

Recepie? For salad? I throw a bowl on the scale and start adding stuff (weighing and logging each) until I run out of things to add. All depends in what looks good to me that day. Examples include romaine, spinach, iceberg, red onion, white onion, grilled chicken, steak, eggs, hot peppers, bell peppers, sun dried tomatoes, fresh tomatoes, grapes, raisins, cranberries, tuna fish, celery, carrots, crutons (rare), grilled peppers, zucchini, etc.

I do make my own balsamic vinegrette, as a 5:1 vinegar:oil mix (very light on the oil) with herbs, ground mustard and a couple chopped garlic cloves.
