calories in calories out. HELP!!!

Okay so I dont fully understand the calories in and calories out idea of losing weight.

SO I should eat 1400 calories a day.
When I log in my 600 calorie burn at the gym,
It readjusts and says that I can eat 2000 calories a day.
I dont undersrand this or how it works.

Someone please explain to me!!!!!
I am not losing weight and I am dieting and exercising a lot and I feel I am doing this all wrong.

MFP has already done the math and keeps you at a consistant defficit.

SO if set yourself to lose 2 pounds per week it probably has you at a defficit of close to 1000 calories/day. (If you are closer to your goal, then accept that it will take longer to lose the weight, just concentrate on building a healthy body and be proud you are close to your goal)

MFP wants you to eat your exercise calories, because they have done the research and know that too large a deficit causes your body to try to hold on to every calorie you eat, making it harder for you to lose weight.

I suggest eating most of your calories back. And eat healthy calories that keep your body looking good. Eat healthy fats, like avocado and raw nuts and seeds. Lots of raw fruits and vegetable. Eggs, lean protein. Unrefined whole grains and rice. This will keep your energy up, your brain sharp, your skin radient, your hair shiney, and your gums healthy. There is so much more to learn from this site than how to get skinny. Best wishes to you, and keep up your good work, I see you have made great progress. (ps I gave you very generalised advice because I can't see your food/exercise diary)
