Hi my name is Frankie and I have recently been diagnosed with PCOS. I noticed hair loss in the last few months getting more aggressive and decided to see a doc. After about a week and several blood tests....PCOS! I knew nothing of it before put after doing much research....it explains alot. My weight has gone up approx 40 pounds in about 6 months. Im not perfect and neither are my eating habits but that hasnt changed much. I attributed the weight gain to moving in with my mother and eating moms good ole' cooking. But 40 pounds is excessive.
Recently I have started METFORMIN. WOW does is aggravate my stomach. Not sure how much I can take of this med. Any pointers as far as food and diet choices and PCOS???? My energy level is about 0% percent. I would like to start with diet changes then slowly introduce excersise as I feel better. I'm basically lethargic with borderline depression due to this recent weight gain and diagnosis. I realize its something I probabaly have ALWAYS had but theres just something about KNOWING. :-(.
Encouragement and Positivity welcomed...please :-)

I also have PCOS and have been taking Metformin for about ten years. When are you taking your pills? I find that if I take them on an empty stomach (i.e., before eating) or if I wait too long after eating to take them, I feel ill, but I feel better if I eat something after that. Take your pills in the middle of your meal and you can avoid the nausea for the most part. Try that for a few weeks, and if you're still experiencing side effects, talk to your doctor about changing your dosage.
PCOS is often accompanied by insulin and carbohydrate sensitivity. If it's a change you can sustain, try keto or another low-carb diet plan. I know I couldn't stick to a low-carb plan.0
