I'm so pumped. I've been running for about a year and a half. I put in about 30 miles a week along with some strength training sessions. I had to rehab my knee this summer after a fall, but it is in good condition now. I may never qualify for Boston, but I wanted to give the full 26.2 miles a go. We have a marathon here in Mobile in January so I am going to do that.

I've been doing daily tempo runs of 4--6 miles in length and occasional double sessions in a day. I know I need to add some hill and speed work. Any other advice or pearls of wisdom?

I have over four months to kick my training into high gear. Any advice from running veterans? I'll be following an intermediate training schedule that I found at RunnersWorld.com. but am open to suggestions.

I never could have imagined this a year and a half ago when I was 30lbs heavier! Thank you MFP community for all of the encouragement and support.

Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

I did a marathon about 5 years ago and I followed a 16 week beginner training schedule from Runners' World and I felt very prepared and I finished with no problems. Didn't break any records  , but all I wanted to do was finish. I would just follow any tips and advice from Runners' World. I consider them to be a very reliable resource.
    Good Luck!!! :drinker:  :drinker:

Sounds like you are doing great. I am running a 1/2 marathon for Team in Training. We run Mon, Tues, Thurs and then the long run in Saturday. It is a great schedule. I havent crosstrained but alot of people seemed to think it helped their performance. I visit runnersworld.com along with this site. Do you hang out in the runners club area on this board? Great group of people who run all different mileages etc. Join us!

    Good for you!:drinker:
I started running in April and am doing a half marathon in December. I did have the delusional thought while running my 1st 12 mile run that I have time to train and switch to the full. Then I finished the run, oxygen returned to my brain and I reconsidered!
    Good luck!
And, pop on to the MFP Runner's thread....lots of excellent runners with amazing advice!
