Flexibility improvement?

I'm wondering what people have done to improve their flexibility
I've had a look on the forums and beyond and have found that yoga is the answer, so that is what I shall do, but I'm interested to see people's own experiences and what they've done to improve themselves, and if anyone has any moves they could recommend?
I am SO unflexible, but otherwise I'm generally fit. 40 mins or so cardio 5 days a week, a little strength training (not enough, I should think), and I'm not overweight, however my flexibility is pathetic. Like, you know the cool down on 30 Day Shred where they sit with their legs in a V and stretch down? After 15 days, I managed to be able to sit up straight. And don't talk to me about toe touching,I can just about manage my knees! I've noticed it's down my right side more, but to be honest it's an all round fail.
So, any tips, any words of wisdom? Would be appreciated.

All I can say is keep working on it! My husband is the tightest, least flexible person I have EVER met! You can't possibly be worse than him, if that makes you feel any better0

In addition to the Pilates and Yoga google stretching to improve flexibility. There are tons of stretches you could start with and see if hey help.0

Yoga is great. I also like the NYC Ballet workout DVD because the stretching section really works on areas that I'm the tightest like my hips.0
