My parents had to put one of their cats to sleep this morning...<Zeke> it was COMPLETELY unexpected, he was a big part of our family and he had such a quirkie personality - He will be dearly missed. This makes me reminisce about my Rottie that I had to put down the year before my folks got Zeke. Haetia {pronounced Hay-Sha}, too was a huge part of our family and it was a major blow when I had to put her down as well. So I thought I would start a thread where we could post picture of pets/buddies we miss and just want to share their picture as a little tribute to these 4-legged blessings the Good Lord sends into our lives.

I don't have any pics handy, but we had a cat we named "Bud" who was a skinny little yellow stray kitten when he first joined our family. My parents finally had to have him put to sleep at 23 years old! I miss Bud all the time. He was the coolest cat ever.

23 YEARS OLD!!?? Wow - Sounds like he was well taken care of to have lived that long. That's how Zeke was - he was such a "cool cat" - so quirkie.. great memories!

I don't have any photos, but one of my cousin in law's dog died on Saturday, Maxwell. They had a house fire and couldn't get him out in time.

Oh man, I'm about to start crying from that story.

I still miss my gerbil. At this point, he's been gone for three times longer than he was actually alive, but I still think there are few things better than coming home after an exhausting day to feel the weight of a little furry friend in your hand.

My family and I had to put down our dog last December, two days before Christmas. He was an 11-year-old Brittney Spaniel. He had been in the family since we adopted him from a shelter when he was 4 months old and I was 8. He started having seizures and we were pretty sure he had a brain tumor and was in a lot of pain, so we decided to put him to sleep, rather than let him suffer. My sister and I were both home for Christmas (me from college and my sister from where she lives in D.C.), so we both got to say goodbye.
