What is everyone's opinion on the validity of calories burned as it says on the machines (treadmill, bikes, etc...) I have a HRM and it usually tells me I am burning nearly DOUBLE the amount of calories as the machines at the gym tell me... is this possible or could the settings on my HRM be off somehow??

I would never go by the machine. They are programed for an average weight/height person. Your HRM should be accurate if it is a good brand and it has a chest strap. If you have doubts google a website that calculates calories burned with your info and see how far off it is.0

What does your HRM tell you your highest heart rate is, and what is your age, and what is a typical workout calorie total from it? If it says you're getting to 250 bpm and you're 32 and it says you're burning 1100 cals in 45 mins. of Zumba, I think it's wrong.0
