Sweating

OK, so I have a rather embarassing question for y'all. Please don't judge :ohwell:

I have noticed the past few days that when I work out my sweat is REALLY stinky. I smell like a boys locker room after I'm done. I have always sweat quite a bit during workouts, but it never really smelled too bad.

I have recently started eating a cleaner diet. I cut out soda completely, eat mostly organic and have been able to cut almost all processed food out of my diet.

Do you think it could be the "toxins" or something from all the bad food making it's way out? Oh, and I do drink enough water, so before anyone says anything about that, I drink about 80-100 oz a day. Any insight would be helpful, I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced this.

Probably not "toxins" - that whole "toxins" thing is way overblown, IMO. Probably a change in your sense of smell that might be related to your sinus opening up from exercise, etc. Could also be that you just have some really good pheromones. Walk near some men while you are in full sweat and see if they follow you......... ;)

I do notice that my sweat does smell different when I switched brands of vitamins.

Also, when I used a few supplements for a short time I noticed a difference.

My suggestion is baby powder and a stronger deodorant lol

About to get personal.....but I noticed the same and realized it was my exercise bras. I finally asked my friend who runs a lot and she said that as soon as she's done running, she takes off her workout clothes and immediately throws them in for a quick wash. See, I would work out and then I would clean house and run errands, etc.

I had to buy new ones and I soak right away if I don't have a load to wash.

    Hope this helps.

that could be it. she could also soak her workout bras in white vinegar if she isn't able to wash them right away.

white vinegar is good for removing the smell from many things. people put it in their washing machine with their laundry.

if that doesn't work, a combination of white vinegar and baking soda should do the trick.

huh, Didn't even think about that. I usually jump in the shower right after a workout, but I just toss the clothes in the hamper so maybe they are holding in some "stankiness".

It could also be your diet. Certain foods can cause your sweat to smell different.

Try rinsing your workout clothes, as someone recommended.

fwiw, I wash my workout clothes in hot water with oxy clean, or, in a pinch, with hydrogen peroxide.
