Hi guys, I've seen lots of motivating pics on this from people that strength train!
I'm very interested but want to train at home! How can I get started on a low budget?
What are some good links I can read? And what suggestions, tips, advice for a beginner like me?

I don't want to pump up! Just tone up, sculpt my body and burn body fat!

Thanks!!!!

Search "Team Pink Conditioning Complex" on youtube and you will see a room full of women going through a series of bodyweight exercises. Use those and go from there.

Get checked by a doc first if you are unsure of your readiness

Thanks for sharing that resource. I use one of Jamie Eason's workout plans from BB.com, but some of her moves suck. Any suggestions for a good lower body plyo workout?

check out new rules of lifting for women (a book), strong lifts ( a website) and starting strength by mark rippetoe (a book)

those are all strength training routines that focus on complex movements so you'll build strength without getting the pump

The youtube video that I was referring to has beginner level plyometrics in it.

Make sure you can do those easily before progressing to harder plyos. Treat plyo work like power work if you are after increased athletic performance...Treat plyo like cardio/conditioning if you are after an athletic appearance (as opposed to performance)

Any weight training program will result in weight gain/mass gain if the calories are high enough.

The distinction between strength work and mass training is exaggerated at times. Power work is usually very heavy (relative to one's 1 Rep Max). Strength work a little bit less heavy. Mass/bodybuilding/Pump training usually has more volume, and by definition is lighter (No one is doing 5 sets of 5 w their 1RM or 5x10 with their 5RM)

Squats are great lower body plyo exercises. You can do standard squats, split squats, or one leg squats. Add power by making them jump squats, jumping split squats or jumping one leg squats.

I'll have to take your advice on the plyo. Burpees currently whoop my butt as well as box jumps and any other plyo move. I think a day of power plyo starting out with those beginner moves is just what I need :)
