Afraid to get weighed

:noway: I joined last week and had 1 day that I was off track. The rest of the week I have been perfectly on track and I have even exercised everyday accept that one off day. I'm 61 yrs old and have been on a zillion diets in my life and the first week weigh in is usually higher than the remaining weeks. I'm afraid to step on that scale tomorrow and be bitterly disappointed:frown:
I'm telling myself that I should be proud of all the wonderful changes that have taken place in the last week regardless of that scale...but let's face it....what the scale says is why we're here (as well as being healthy, more energetic....etc.) Isn't it awful how much power that scale has over us???? I should know better by now!!!:embarassed:

The sooner you face something you are afraid of the sooner you can move on from it. So, go ahead and do it!0

I got weighed once, wast week. Wet's just go to wunch,,, Hehehe....
Oh just step on,,, or don't, it doesn't matter. Do it right and stick with your program and pretty soon your pants will get loose and you'll have to go buy smaller ones either way.
Welcome aboard. I did lotsa stuff before too. Never was able to stick with anything 'til I came here. This is a great tool and you're going to have success of you stick with it.
So maybe you're a once-a-month weigh-er,,, that's fine.0 -
I feel your pain Sistah!
But it's time to face the music and play that scale.....
Ha Ha ...... a little music humor there (very little!)
Just jump right on and no matter what the result,
feel good about your efforts so far! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0 -
I'm with you sister. I was supposed to do it on Monday and didn't have the courage! I've been working my butt off and afraid I won't see a difference and will lose momentum.
I feel you pain!0 -
Go ahead and take that first step. Also remember that the scale is only a tool and some results show in other ways.People always think I am nuts when I tell them my weight (147 lbs) because I look smaller (size 8) than that number on the scale. The tape measure can tell a better story at times. Keep up the good work :-):glasses:0

I actually gained 3lbs my first week..... BUT, i lost over 5 inches, and that's the important part. I noticed the waistband of my pants felt better and so did the thigh area.... that was huge for me.
I've been going over month now, and am still up 2.5lbs from when I started but I've lost almost 10 inches. I'm not going to let it get me down though. I'm going to keep plugging along because in the end, I don't care what I weigh, as long as I can walk up a flight of stairs without feeling I have to rest for 5 to 10 mins before I can do anything else. Plus the smaller pants are a bonus0 -
When I discovered how much I tied my validation to the scale, I went for a few weeks without weighing. I would be depressed and eat more if I weighed more. If I weighed less, I would celebrate or justify a treat or two! After not weighing for a while, I was able to focus more on other goals than what the scale says.
However, it's not a good idea to skip weighing to pretend what goes through the does not go to the hips!
