Need help eating healthy and feeling full.

What I thought would be a healthy breakfast, turned out to be full of calories. 400 for one meal. D:

So I need some ideas. This morning's breakfast was three sausage links, a buttered muffin, and poached egg whites with a little pepper for flavoring with a glass of warm green tea.

It has been about twenty minutes and I'm already hungry again and craving just any food to go into my mouth. I've tried everything to make myself feel full. Glass of water before meal. Glass of water(or in this case green tea) with my meal. So I'm not thirsty. I have tried doing the whole, 'Put your fork/spoon or, if finger food, the actual food down, as a way to trick the brain into thinking I'm finished. I felt so full that I didn't even eat all my breakfast.

And now I feel like I haven't eaten at all today.

So any other tricks to try and eat healthy, low cal, but also to feel full? This goes for all the meals of the day too because after I eat a 'hearty' meal, I feel starving not even an hour later.

How am I supposed to lose weight if all my body wants to do is eat?

I can't see your food diary so have no idea how you are doing in general but I would suggest trying to increase your fibre intake, it helps regulate blood sugar levels and is known to keep you fuller for longer.

The breakfast you ate isn't healthy or in any way slimming.

Try some porridge for breakfast with a fresh banana sliced into it.

    i would try:
    coffee
    oatmeal
fruit(you can usually eat more for fewer calories)
    peanut butter and banana sandwhich
    nonfat yogurt
    granola with lots of nuts

these things should help you feel full.

I normally dont eat breakfast, it will put me under all day. Idk it steals my energy. lol If I did, I would eat probably things like cantalope. Fruits are full of fiber, that might help, or find things less in cals so you can eat more. For example
white bread is 90 cals per slice, hearth lite whole wheat is only 35 cals per slice. You can have 2 for the price of one. lol
one egg is 70 cals, egg beaters is1/4 cup = one egg and is only 35 cals. Making little switches can help and have some fruit. I obsessed with cals so I read my foods and either compromise or I know there has to be something else tat less in cals. SO far I am doing good with it

Sausage and a buttered muffin? Not good. BTW, caffeine is an excellent appetite suppressant. Instead of the wimpy green tea (which is quite healthful though), try sipping on some black coffee throughout the morning.

Next time for breakfast have a couple hardboiled eggs, including the yolks. You can also measure out an ounce of almonds (or any kind of nut) to occassionally graze on during the morning if you start feeling hungry. Eventually you'll adjust to not eating garbage, but it takes a few weeks at least to get over the cravings.

I often hit 400 cals on my breakfast too, and it's not even anything too crazy. Whole wheat bread, 97% fat free ham in water, cheese, light mayo. I basically just enjoy it, then burn it off later. It's a good start to my day when I don't feel like fruit and yogurt, and when I run out of eggs, lol.

High Calories =/= Unhealthy. Very important to remember that. If you're having problems feeling full and eating healthy, eat MORE healthy food. Fruit is awesome.

I'm gonna make a claim, it may or may not be true. The buttered muffin wasn't needed. White carbs will ALWAYS leave you feeling hungrier than just eating protein. Change the sausage to something healthier (turkey or chicken), and the poached egg. It will be lower in calories and it will fill you up with out leaving you feeling hungry. This takes a lot of experimenting before you get it right...

But then again 400 calorie for breakfast isn't bad. Most say that should be your largest meal. If you want a carb (bread, muffin, etc) try to find something denser and full of fiber. It will digest slower...

A big part of this process is finding the small, surprising things that are causing you to eat too many calories and fixing them.

400 calories for breakfast isn't that bad in reality. You could make your listed breakfast healthier and more filling by replacing the sausages with low-fat sausage or turkey sausage, and by swapping the muffin for something whole-grain and not sweet (muffins are primarily cake). Lastly, you could add some sliced vegetables to help fill you up without many extra calories.

Also, if you are just starting out, the hunger may just be your body getting used to receiving fewer calories. It'll pass in about a week.

Well I know the english muffin wasn't healthy mainly because the butter but I ate my egg on it because I don't like the taste of eggs. But I was looking up healthy breakfast ideas and a lot of websites said that just the egg white is healthy because the whites aren't full of cholesterol like a yolk is. And this was my only real option of a full breakfast since my parents only normally buy sugary cereal and such.

I try to eat vegemite on wheat toast because vegemite is super healthy and packed with nutrients but I never am full.

Poach the entire egg. All that cholesterol fearmongering is bs. The yolk is yummy and nutritious and will keep you full.

Skip the muffin. If you need something starchy to put your egg on, toast a slice of Ezekiel bread. Also, though I am a proponent of butter, you don't need it if you have an egg on there.

You don't need three sausage links. Have one, maybe two and don't feel bad about the egg yolk ;)

Then fill up on fresh fruit. An orange or two, a banana, berries, cherries, cut up melon . . . Fruit is the perfect breakfast food.
