Hi All

In an effort to get my morning breakfasts sorted, I want to give protein/oat based smoothies a go but I have no receipe ideas...anyone care to share?

I've got chocolate and vanilla based protein powders so anything that'd mix well with that?!

thanks so much....;-)

I use the Jay Robb Protein powder and just add 1 c. almond milk (unsweetened), 1/2 frozen banana and either blueberries or strawberries and sometimes a flax seed packet to the mix. Any variation of fruit would work. Anything you like. I have found that I prefer frozen fruits because the drink is alot colder.

I no longer have to throw bananas away because when they get to soft to eat I break them in half and freeze them for my shakes.

My favorite is half a banana, a handful of spinach, 2 TBL of PB2 ( or peanut butter if you can spare the extra calories). The spinach can't be tasted at all.

I do - 1 frozen banana, chocolate almond milk (I can't do soy or dairy), 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder, 2 tbsp milled flax seed.
Lots of fiber, lots of protein, and it tastes like a milk shake!

My favorite thing to do is:

    1/2 cup non-fat yogurt
1/2 cup skim milk (or almond milk for less calories!)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I use dymatize elite whey protein isolate - it's just flat out delicious)
    1 banana
1 full tray of ice cubes

    THEN:

    For strawberry banana:
    add 3/4 cup strawberries

    For cherry vanilla:
    add 3/4 cup cherries

    For mixed berry:
    add 1/4 cup blueberries
    1/4 cup raspberries
    1/4 cup blackberries
    1/4 cup strawberries

This makes a full blender of smoothie and is about 500 calories total - I split it up into 4 separate servings so me and my fiancé can each have two throughout the day. It holds up in the fridge super well (still icy several hours later!)
  • I never thought of freezing the bananas and always have the same waste issue. Brilliant idea...thanks so much

By 500 calories total - I mean 500 calories in the WHOLE blender - so 125 calories for each serving...just in case that wasn't clear!

agree on the frozen bananas - gives the smoothies a great texture and don't need much if any ice.

quick and easy - frozen banana + chocolate soy milk
a little more effort - frozen banana + unsweetened soy milk + a little honey + a little vanilla
