Body Dismorphia?

Lately, everytime I get together with people who haven't seen me for a while, they congratulate me and tell me I have lost SO MUCH weight and I look SO GOOD. I even had my mother in law tell me I had gotten too skinny at one point (have gained some weight since then). So why do I see the same person in the mirror I saw over a year ago? To be honest... it is just depressing. Anyone else struggle with this?

I know where you're coming from. It's hard when your brain and mentality doesn't shift at the same pace as your body, and quite disheartening at times. Seeing all the photos in the world doesn't seem to make a jot of difference to me, nor do compliments or people saying I look radically different. I blogged about it recently (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/mogletdeluxe/view/the-skin-i-m-in-274936) and the confusion it causes.

I think it can be summed up by a helpful comment someone made - you get used to being overweight slowly over time; why should the opposite be any different?

    All the best x

Because you see you every day. You never notice the changes until your pants start fitting better :)) Trust me.

I have dropped about three pants sizes and I still just look at myself as huge! So frustrated with myself!

I totally understand! People keep telling me that I look great and wow you've lost weight, but all I can think about is the remaining weight to loose and that I don't look nearly like I want to...

Possibly. It's more common than most people know. No matter how I look I'm never happy, not really. I accept, accept me as best I can, and move on.
