Hi everyone,
I'm following the Clean and Lean plan, but have noticed I eat a lot of fat (quite a lot of the time I go over my allowance on MFP), although this isn't sat fat..... Is this really bad? I'm eating nuts, seeds, avocado, olive oil etc....
Any advice would be very welcomed!! :-) Thanks.

  • Clean and lean is a low carb plan, not a traditional low calorie plan, so naturally your fat intake is going to take up a larger portion of your daily calorie allotment. As long as you're not over-doing it, eating healthy fats is good on this diet. Make sure you stick to lean sources of protein like skinless chicken and turkey. if you're noticing that your weight is stuck, you might be consuming too many fats, which means you may choose to stop adding oils or cooking with oils for a while: getting your only fats from the daily omega-3 fishoil capsules which James recommends.

I have days where my fat intake goes way over my MFP suggested intake. But it's on days I eat a lot of good fats like pistachios and salmon or avocado. Fat isn't your enemy if it's from good sources.

Edited to say: if those are your fat sources I woldn't worry. Just watch your amounts because even though they are clean, high fat foods are very high calorie as well so it's easier to go overboard if you don't watch how much you eat.

Those fats are fine as are most natural fat, including saturated fat.
