So I am totally new to this, I really don't know where to begin. I wake up every morning and think "today is the day im gonna get my butt in gear" and I do fine when im working or hanging out with my friends but then i get home and just wanna snack and munch. This dreary Wisconsin weather hasn't helped either..I think if I could get outside to walk tonight I would feel better but it's raining cats and dogs. Does anyone else ever feel this way and what do you ya' do to stay on course? thanks all!!

Hi,
Today is as good a day as any to start. :0 )
Once I started logging what I ate and saw I didn't have any numbers left for snacks it was easy to give them up. Or rather, eat better sized portions throughout the day so I have room for snacks. Healthier snacks. When I have chips or chocolate, it's only in small portions.
I found seeing my numbers is good incentive to exercise, too. Hope it works for you.0 -
Hi,
I feel like that all the time. This time around for me it seems a bit different, though, as I saw a picture of myself and was shocked. My motivation has stayed strong for the last 6 days. .. which is a bit of record.
I used to swear to myself with each 'treat' that it would be the last one, and that I'd start to get in shape 'tomorrow'. My youngest is now 4 years old, so I've been waiting until 'tomorrow' for about 4 years.
As for getting out in the rain, I'm not sure what to say. Getting yourself some fun rainboots and raincoat might be an idea - to go ahead out, come home and reward yourself with a warm bath and cup of tea?
The fact that you've signed up to this site is a great sign . . . maybe if you feel your motivation slipping you can start reading the posts of others?
Hope that help0 -
Thanks ladies!! I think what I will like most about this site is all the positive attitudes. Hope you both keep it up and thanks!0

Welcome to the site. I joined monday. I have terrible will power and I never stick to anything for very long, so I hoped by joining this website and seeing other people "make it happen" that it would be great motivation to keep me going.0

So here is what I did. It was 2 pm on a Wednesday and I happened back on MFP. Free....really?
Ok I logged my food for the day. :noway: Huh.........1500 calories and it was 2 pm??? Ok
So I logged the next meal and then did this for about a week. I didnt think about changing anything. I didnt DO anythign but log the food.
At the end of the week I looked back. OMG............I ate all that food? All that fat? All that sodium?????
So I made small changes. No carry out the first week. Added fish the 2nd week. Added veggies ......Before you know it I had made it to 1 month and lost 5 pounds!!
I added in exercise and all kinds of changes little by little.
Dont fret-start RIGHT now. Make a change!!
You can do this!!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0 -
I have a picture of myself before my weight loss on the refrig. and a picture my youngest son made for me working out at the gym taped to the door of our pantry. At the top it reads "My Mom is New". Those 2 things stop me in my tracks each and every time!!0
