People That Piddle-Paddle

One of probably my biggest pet peeves in the world is people that piddle-paddle around. Or, some cal it Fiddle-Fart. Whatever you call it, it absolutely drives me totally and completely insane.

My daughter is a piddle-paddler. She can take up to 20 minutes to put on a pair of underwear. I just don't get it. And, I defintely can't watch or I freak out.

But, what the hell goes through peoples minds? I was in the lunch room, and they were piddle-paddling around and I got my food, paid, and left, and looked back, and they are still piddle-paddling around getting soup. I'm like, WTF! Just pour the soup in your freaking bowl. WHAT TAKES SO LONG? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Sorry, it's just something I can't tolerate. People that do that, I just wonder if they don't value life? I mean, get on it. Do it, and be done. Geez!

I can't take it.

The ONLY time I piddle-paddle or fiddle-fart is in the grocery store. Particularly the produce section. Gotta check all my fruits and veggies thoroughly. Although I spend just as much time reading labels throughout the entire grocery store now. But other than that, I'm a get it done kind of girl!

That is what I do....but I dislike how long it takes the rest of the fam to get ready to go shopping...mean I toss on a shirt and shorts...but the piddle paddlers take forever....like who is going to notice what you are wearing at the market...not like you are gonna get a date....unless you are at the meat market....lol

I like going getting what I want/need and getting on with things.

LOL. The grocery store is where I encounter a lot of that. I can usually work around it though, so it doesn't bother me. I don't care what others do, only when it impacts me. Some people piddle-paddle together, like a husband and wife, and somehow, they can take up the entire produce department, and everytime you try to get around them, they move in your way again. There have been times where I have been rude and just check them, and say sorry loud and sarcastically. But, usually I'm nice and just tell them to get the f**k out of my way. LOL.

:explode: that bothers me so much too!

BUT I think everyone is rushing around & for what? Maybe we all need to slow down a bit.

I was at a Mindfulness retreat & we need this exercise where we very slowly walked around the room, I thought it was silly & boring. Then the instructor said now walk really quickly "you're late for a train!". As soon as we started walking quickly my heart started racing & I thought I was going to have a panic attack. I realized how stressed out I felt all of the sudden.

I'm still a "get it done" kind of person but sometimes I try to slow down & I find I'm much more relaxed.

Yeah, the whole 'getting ready to leave the house' thing drives me nuts. Fortunately, my kids are trained well, because both their mom and I are the type that just stand up, announce that we are going to the store, and in about 20 seconds are out. So, they do that. But, if I have visitors, it's a whole different ball game. You announce that we are going to the store, and it takes 30 minutes just to get out the door. i just don't get it. Just grab your keys and go.

Wow, seriously? You get angry about something like this and let it ruin your day, and waste your time posting about it on a message board, but they don't value life because they aren't rushing through everything?

Yeah, my grandmother was born in the South. But, most of her adult she lived and raised her kids in the city in SoCal. When she got much older, she decided to move back south. She had been there for many years before she came back, but she really missed SoCal and was thinking about moving back and getting a little condo or something. She visited for about a week, and couldn't wait to get out of here, and said that's the last time she'll ever visit. She talked a lot about how fast everyone is, and how fast everything moves, and the people are cars and moving so fast. I just laughed and told her that she got used to living slower. She agreed and couldn't believe that she used to like this. LOL.

Good point you have there. Still doesn't fix me though.

Totally missed the point. He was merely suggesting that perhaps people who piddle around doing nonsense don't value their time. And I def don't think he was angry. Time is a gift and should be used wisely. I'm fairly certain that's where he was going with that.

Hate it when a group of shoppers park their cart in the center of the isle and stand on either side looking and discussing. Or even when they pull up to the side and see you waiting to look at something and just keep doing nothing!! That type of piddle-paddling is UNACCEPTABLE :noway:

I don't think she missed the point. Why worry about how others spend their lives? Unless they live with you , then feel free to get your panties in a bunch.

It must be exhausting to worry about such things. How do you drive?

    Dilly dally, shilly shally...

I don't do it and it drives me CRAZY when people do it. I just want to grab whatever they're doing and finish it for them. When people drag their feet I have to step back and distract myself or I get super cranky. Haha.

I have relatives that do that. If we're supposed to meet somewhere at 6, I know we'll be meeting them at 8. If it's a holiday and we're going to their house and my aunt says dinner's at 5, it's most likely at 7. They put things off until the last minute or, in the case of my Uncle, really have no concept of time outside of his job and just takes forever doing something or suddenly decides he needs a nap or that there's some gardening to do which will mean an hour long shower after before he can eat, etc.

One of my best friends at the time did something like that I could've killed her for. She had decided, while she was at my house, to go to the mall last minute and we had roughly an hour before it closed and we figured we'd eat in the food court. She went into some shop and just piddled around sampling every perfume, body lotion, and lip gloss they had even though I kept telling her to come on the food court was closing down and finally I just left her, but there was only one place open and I hated their food. She didn't care, she dropped her purchases by me and got food, but later got mad when I had to go to a fast food place for dinner because she wanted some too.

It's all aggravating and sometimes you wanna pull your hair out, but there are just people like that no matter how you try to "fix" them. You either live with it or let it get to you.

I used to feel this way a lot until I moved to another country (born in the United States). I started to realize that these people weren't "piddle-paddling" but really just enjoying themselves. Everyone was so much laid back and happier. No one seemed to care if you showed up five minutes late, they were happy to wait for you because it was more about the quality of the human interaction. It made me re-evaluate my way of thinking. I still get mad sometimes when people move too slow, in fact some lady called me rude at the grocery store yesterday because I asked her to move. I try and remind myself though if that was my grandma in front of me, would I treat her that way? No. So why should I treat a stranger that way? It's not fair. I should give everyone the same common courtesies I would give my grandma. So what if she takes 20 minutes to pick out her underwear and we don't make it to the store? The store will be open again tomorrow. Ultimately, everyone moves at their own pace and you can't change that. So do what you do, and let other people do it their way.

I Piddle-Paddle ... I don't stress... I'm not an agressive driver... I'm not in a hurry and I have actually noticed that I get things done just as quickly as everyone else and with a lot less anxiety. I am very organized and I don't procrastinate . I move at a constant even steady flow.

The ONLY reason I want to change this is because I'm not burning enough calories in the day. I need to pick up my speed of walking so that I can burn more calories.

Ive always been told I walk slow, move slow etc. --- When I was walking on the treadmill at the gym at 3.0 I felt like I was moving SO FAST! I looked over at someone else walking and they looked like they were moving at a snails pace... well they were also walking at 3.0
