Cleaning as exercise!?

Every Monday I clean a karate school and I wear my HRM. According to my HRM, I burn well over 200 calories in an hour and a half to two hours. This includes vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping the entire place. I do sweat. Should I count it or not?? I just don't know. Everything we do burns calories..

Honestly, it all depends...are you taking into account the ~100-120 calories you might burn during that time if you weren't cleaning? I mean, just sitting around does burn calories. I'd be leary of logging anything that low in calories for that long a time. When I do log things like that, I tend to log 50% of the time/calories if I'm not confident about the count. YMMV, of course! I'll be interested to see what others pipe up with...

Depends on what you have your activity level set, I would imagine... at least in my opinion... I know I would especially since I am set to sedentary.
  • If you would normally be sitting or doing minimal activities during that time, I would definitely count it.
