2 weeker so far....losing motivation!

Hi all!

I am losing motivation....FAST! The first week, I was AWESOME! I exercised all 7 days. I completely cut out sodas from my diet. I consumed 1200 calories every day (I know that isn't much but I am not a big eater and it was hard to eat 1200 calories). I lost 3 lbs. the first week. Now I just finished my 2nd week. I started to consume more soda. I upped my calorie intake to 1400 because I realized that I should intake more healthy foods, but if I didn't make my calories, I would tell myself that it was okay to dabble in some junk food. I also did not exercise as much. Now I am in my third week. I have no motivation. I stopped eating my 5 small meals a day and started skipping meals. I am now only consuming 900 calories a day. Way below healthy! I can't get motivated to exercise.

I guess that I am in need of some inspiration and motivation. :)

I'm reporting for duty. Currently some of my friends and I are doing the "7 Days of Fitness" Challenge. You can join if you'd like. Either way, feel free to add me!
  • What is the 7 day callenge?
  • I find if I change everything at once (diet, exercise, routine) I either get bored or exhausted. Maybe start again slowly by exercising every other day so you don't run out of steam! Then once you're in a routine you're happy with, you can focus on your food habits, and then gradually exercise more if you want. Good luck!
  • That definitely makes sense and I figured that I am just getting burned out. I am also dropping all of my vices at once...or at least attempting to do so. I am trying to quit smoking, drinking soda and snacking on junk instead of healthy foods. That is pretty tough as well. I will definitely take your advice. I will find the workout routine that works best for me. Thanks!!!

You aren't committed. When you commit to something, you do it hell or high water. When you "try" something, you're just doing it till you get tired of it.
Motivation comes from within. If you aren't committed to it, all the cheering in the world will be short lived. Reassess why you are doing this and make a commitment you can keep.

I'm not big on exercise either, instead I focus on my calorie intake. I know there's no way I can give up all the bad things I love (soda, fast food, sweets) so I pace myself through the week. If I need a burger fix, I cut back on breakfast to make up for a fatty lunch. If I NEED that soda with dinner, I cut my side dishes (mashed potatoes, etc) in half to make up for it. You can't cut out all your guilty pleasures at once AND try to go from no exercise to working out everyday, this site isn't built like that. It's built to help you lose weight your own way. Some people run 5 miles a day and can therefore consume more calories, others walk around the block and eat less. Find what works for you. If you really want to lose the weight you'll find your happy medium and realize this is a lifestyle change, not a crash course.

Think about why you're doing this and what motivated you to start. Any lifestyle change you attach to something you truly value will stick eventually with effort and persistence.

When you "stumble", get back up and do better the next day. Don't just stop. If you consumed too many sodas today, aim for less soda tomorrow and no soda in a specific period of time. Set challenging but reasonable goals and work toward them.

If you miss a workout day, get back in there with a vengeance the next day. Life happens. Celebrate the small victories along the way and they will grow into big milestones.

Keep it up. You can do this. Are you going to just let things happen to you or are you going to make things happen?

Choose your battles and learn to make healthy compromises (for example, if I really want the dessert, I forego the loaded mashed potatoes). Balance is key.

I would suggest doing something to get you excited about eating healthy first. Working out won't do much good if you don't eat to match it. Go to like a sauna and do a full body detox. We have a place here in Dallas called king sauna.. It is an amazing Korean bath house. And also a colon cleanse to get all of the toxins out so your body can feel the full effect of all the new nutrients it is getting to take in. plus its a good excuse for a girls day out ;) .. Then find something that makes you motivated... Wether is pictures of someone you want similar results to or a book .. I read Feed Your Face. It is a great book that gives great advice on health all Together. After reading it makes me want healthy food and after eating healthy I want to exercise. So its a domino effect. Maybe start with an easy exercise like walking your dog in the morning if you have one or something. Just something simple that gets you up early and starts your day fresh. For me those two little things keep me motivated all day.

I am just starting over myself. Start fresh with yr next meal, get a small note book anda write down wht you plan to eat for the day and stay with it. Get rid of the soda and go to either herbal tea, lemon water or ice water. You have t flush your system to feel better. Keep us posted.

I agree. You are making too many changes all at once. Eliminate 1-2 things at a time and once you are use to that change a few more. I still have some junk food almost everyday but it is portioned and within my allowance.

Dont give up! remind yourself why you want to lose weight in the first place. The road to weight loss is not easy but its possible. You have to dig deep into the reason why your doing this.
