Weight Loss Plateau

Hi Everyone!

So I've been on MFP for about 50 days now at a rate of -1lb per week. That means I should have lost 7lbs by now, unfortunately I have only lost 4lbs.

I know I should be happy that I have seen progress, but I should have been halfway towards my goal by now. I'm super frustrated and I feel really helpless. I'm doing everything MFP tells me to do, but I'm not moving forward.

I really need some help and support right now and you guys are all I have. Please give me some tips on how to move past this plateau.

Hi there..... I know what you mean!! I've changed my goal and now I'm only allowed 1,200 calories a day (w/o exercise). I'm hoping this will break my plateau!! I'v also started working out 4 times a week.... AM workouts too.

What has your exercise schedule been?
Have you been staying within your calories?
Have you checked into "calorie cycling"? Where you have a calorie intake of 1,400 calories one day and 1,200 calories another day.....

Feel free to add me as a friend....

I actually abhor exercise, I only really burn calories from walking and leisurely swimming.

I've been under my calories all but (I think about) 5 days out of the 50. Most are recent now that you mention it. So that probably has a lot do with it.

What exactly is Calorie Cycling, and why is it bad for me?

Hello! I ve hit the plateau too. I lost 33 kilos. And 9 months later my weight stucked... I can't get through my current weight. I change my nutrition, I change my workouts. I added weights. But still I can't get through. I hope my weight will move on someday... :( I really need to talk to you guys to know I do everything right, and this plateau is normal.
  • I think there's only so much weight we can lose from just following a certain diet over a certain amount of time, exercise is crucial to weight loss, as much as you may hate it! Try to do some strength training as well as cardio, not only is it good for weight loss, but your body will look amazing and toned too.

What you're doing now is relying on your body to burn calories from just being alive. There are about 3500 calories in 1lb of fat, so it's going to be a long process! Try going for a short walk every other day, and then slowly build up how long you walk for. It won't feel like a chore if you do it gradually and don't force it all at once. Then you can maybe add in some squats, crunches, and other strength exercises to your routine. You don't even have to do a lot! Just 10 repetitions of each and you can get on with your day!

I also used to hate exercise, but now I love it. I only exercise on days with an even number and change up my routine so I don't get bored. Good luck :)

Your plateau is completely normal! You've already lost an incredible amount of weight, well done! It's always harder to lose weight the smaller you get and it is frustrating, but you will pull through! How long have you been stuck for? Maybe you could talk to a nutritionist or personal trainer and get some advice?

Thank you so much! :) I've been stuck for 2 months. It seems I'll never lose the rest of my fat.
