Hi Pals,

I've been doing the C25K and TBH have suprised myself.

But,

I now want to introduce some Strength Training into my weekly exercise regime.

The plan was:

Monday - C25K
Tuesday - Weights
Wednesday - C25K
Thursday - Weights
Friday - C25K

Is this too much?

How would you suggest I get in my weight training with my C25K?

Look forward to your replies,

Loozin

Doesn't look like too much to me , but I'm no expert. I went to the doctor recently and he told me that I should do something outside of the water (running or weights) everyday for 40 minutes to an hour for core strength. He also said that my pool exercise should be in addition if I want that. Others tell me that evry other day of weights give your body time to repair.

I workout 3 hours per day 10 days on then rest, and the cycle starts again.
There is such a concept as over-training which occurs when we push our body past its ability to recover.
You hurt all over and have trouble sleeping.
When I was a fighter, I worked out 6 hours a day, so this feels like nothing. I spent 3 years working my way back slowly, and I love it. Lost over 70 lbs!
    My exercise is my play.
I never go to a gym but enjoy hard playing mostly. My workout is my fun as I play tennis, swim, row a boat, spar and bike or hike, throw a ball or playground calisthenics .
    3 hours is nothing.
Most people spend 4 hours watching TV every day.
You do what feels right and what you enjoy. If you need rest, your body will speak loud and clear.
    Good Luck!

^ i was going to say something to that effect.

OP your routine doesnt look too much to me, the one thing that you *may* find that is that at first you dont have the legs to do the weights and the running especially if you're new to either or both. just give it some time and you'll adjust to it.

im doing something similar now because i have several races coming up and i need to increase my running endurance. i do weights m/w/f . on tus/thurs i do a shorter running session of like 30 minutes and on saturdays i do a longer 7 mile session. sundays are either for complete rest or me goofing off in the pool
