High Intensity Interval Training - Any runners doing this?

Not sure if it technically meets the definition of HIIT, but I have two different speedwork/sprint workouts I do on the treadmill once a week.
One involves a 10 min warm up, then 4 minutes of 20 sec sprints/10 sec rest followed by a minute of walking, repeated three times.
The other involves a 10 min warm up, 3 minutes of 25 sec sprints/35 sec jog followed by a minute of walking, repeated five times.
I love it! And hate it!0 -
So does it burn more calories than the regular running. I did HIIT with various activities and i loved it/and hated it, like you said. But I want to incorporate something like what your doing into running...0

I do HIIT more than just running now, and for me it does burn more calories. I also walk more at higher inclines, which also burns more for me.0

So .. if I understand correctly, it's 20 second sprint, rest 10 sec, walk, and another 20 second sprint ... untill 4 min. is up? (but repeat 3 times with in the 4 mins.) Sorry im so daft ...0 -
Here is what I've learned so far but have not done it yet. High intensity intervals: Jog and at an easy pace, and then run hard at 60% effort and then back to an easy pace, then run hard at 80% effort and then back to an easy pace, then run at 100 effort (till you feel like your gonna die) and then back to an easy pace.0

FWIW - typical running intervals (400 repeats, 800 repeats, miles repeats, etc.) are great workouts, but they are not HIIT.
All HIIT are intervals, but not all intervals are HIIT.0 -

warm up 10 min
sprint 20, rest 10 - repeat 8x (totals 4 min)
walk 1 minute
sprint 20, rest 10 - repeat 8x
walk 1 minute
sprint 20, rest 10 - repeat 8x
cool down
sprints are at 90%-100% max effort0 -

That's pretty much the other workout that I do:
warm up
25 sec @ 60%, jog 35 sec
25 sec @ 80%, jog 35 sec
25 sec @ 100%, walk 60 sec, jog 35 sec
repeat this 5x
cool down0
