Newbie having surgery... next week.

I just started with my FitBit and MFP a couple of weeks ago, and I'm really enjoying it. My goal was to get some semblance of tone before I go in for a surgical procedure next week. Then I'll be out of commission (on doctor's orders) for about a month or so. But the good news is that I'm enjoying the habit and I'm sure that by the time I'm recovered, I'll be ready to dive back in.

I'm in my mid-40s and need to lose about 40-50 pounds, though my doc says even 30 would be good for me. All my numbers are decent (not diabetic, no thyroid issues, not anemic; only issue is with calcium, but I think that's pretty much everyone). My diet is changing - going gluten free to get rid of the "wheat belly" and drinking MORE water, less soda (haven't had one in a week or so!), and trying to add in more fruits/veg.

I'm looking forward to making friends and making PROGRESS!
