How to sync a playlist on a Nano

So I can't seem to figure out how to get a specific playlist on my Nano from Itunes. I've gone to preferences and selected Share selected playlists, then I check the one I made for treadmill and when I sync, nuthin happens! So frustrating.
Any advice is most appreciated. I gotta get some new tunes rather than shuffle through all the old ones.
