So if muscle doesnt weigh more than fat, then why do people say dont watch the scale just take measurments?
Example. i was 114 and my waist was 26 inches. Now im 116 and my waist is 25 inches. So what happened? I gained two lbs but lost an inches? So does muscles weigh more? I'm just confused on that whole topic.
Thanks

A pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat. That pound of muscle takes up less room than that pound of fat.

Per volume, muscle weighs more than fat. Muscle is denser than fat, so a pound of muscle will take up less space than a pound of fat. Muscle weighs "more" than fat in the same sense that steel weighs more than butter. Some people just get all upset when someone says "muscle weighs more than fat" because 1 pound of x will always weight the same as 1 pound of y. (They both weigh 1 pound). The take-home point when thinking about weight-loss though is that muscle is denser and so 1 lb of it will take up less space than 1 lb of fat.0
