I am looking to buy a HRM and I am not sure what the difference between the two is?
I know the F7 is the newer model but is it better? And how? I don't mind spending more if it's worth it.
Thanks so much everyone!!

Don't know. I have a Garmin FR60 with foot pod. You go to amazon.com and read the reviews.

I believe the F7 can sync with mfp automatically, BUT I have the F4 and I am in love with it. It stores your workout so very easy to look back and record all your workouts for the day. The band is very comfortable too...I barely notice I'm wearing it!

Google is your friend, all you had to do was google your question. This is what I found....

  • What would be the advantage of the bluetooth? (sorry if incredibly ignorant!)

You can go here and do a comparison. http://www.heartmonitors.com/heart-monitors/polar.html?gclid=CNy_zZvO2rACFYeo4AodSnbM1w That's what I did when I bought mine. I got an FT4, I don't remember the exact reasons why, but the bottom line was that it was slightly less expensive and it had all the functionality I needed it to have. But there are a few differences, I believe.

The compare page will give you side by side info on each so you can make your best decision for you.

I *think* that with the bluetooth built in you can integrate it with various apps on smartphones, but I'm not positive.
  • I have an FT4. It's pretty basic. Tells you how many calories you burn.

FT7 has more functions. Other than it tells you how many calories you burn, it advises you your training load - when to rest. It also has energy pointers.

You should go to the polar website and compare.

Personally I love my FT4. I just need to know how many calories I burn.

I've bought 3 Polar in the past and all are pretty basic.

    Hope it helps.

The FT7 can be coneected via another thing you gotta buy to the computer to download data, FT4 not. FT7 saves the last 10 workouts, FT4 only one (I think) and the FT7 gives you the separation of fat burning and fitness heart rates. none of them has bluetooth, that has to do with the sending unit on the belt. i got my FT7 for 10 quid more than the FT4.

The biggest difference between the 2 is that the FT7 stores 99 workouts, the FT4 only 10. Also, the ability to upload workout data to Polar's personal training site is only available in the FT7.
There are a few other minor differences but if you are not interested in uploading your workout data, go with the FT4.

I ended up getting the FT4 because the only perks I saw with the FT& were being able to upload your stats online to Polar's website and the number of files the FT4 (10) versus FT7 (99) workouts the watch will store. Otherwise, the watches are the same.

BTW, I love my FT4. The only way I'd get a new watch is if I decide to get one with a GPS component.

I had both in my hands in Target the other day and the only difference I could see was that the F7 had Flowlink for data transfer to a polar website. The other features were mostly the same. F7 had "energy pointer" to tell you if you were burning fat or increasing fitness, but the target heart rate zone feature on F4 would do the same thing if you set it to stay in a certain HR zone.

    This will also help: http://www.polarusa.com/us-en/products/compare
Use the drop down boxes to select the products, and then click the plus signs at the bottom left menu to expand the feature comparison.

There wasn't much of a price difference at Target, so I went with the F4 because it was a better color. :)
