Hi, I'm new to this site and have never counted calories before so have no clue how to get started. I live in Ontario, Canada; relocated from BC so I sold off all of my fitness stuff before I moved. I've never really needed to lose weight; usually am trying to gain. Now that I'm older, I've accumulated some fat around my middle that I'd love to get rid of and want to get back into lifting weights again.

Welcome....good luck. I would start with recording the calories from the stuff you eat. (and drink)

This site is wonderful! I have been on it since February and I've lost 22lbs (and counting). I couldn't have done it without all the support from the wonderful friends I've met. Please feel free to add me (anyone of you)! Congrats on joining! It's the first step to a new lifestyle! :)

Welcome to MFP. We are about the same age so I would be glad to be your friend.

Greetings from Saskatchewan (hard to spell, easy to draw). I think the first thing you need to do is set your goals. Then you will have the information you will need to plan your food and exercise. Browse the site here, look through the database and you will see there is just about everything listed here. The Community Message Boards are friendly but, bear in mind, they contain opinions... not necessarily facts. One tip I will give is to get yourself a good kitchen weigh scale. My biggest surprise (to myself) was how much I was overloading my plate... and once it was on my plate, it was ate! That's the way I was brought up.

    Best of luck to you!

Will get use to it I am sure.

    Good luck to you.

Thanks for all the advice and the welcomes. :) I do have a scale somewhere already. I bought it to weigh my puppies. My problem mostly is remembering to eat because I eat only when I feel hungry. Then I usually load up on the easy stuff (carbs). I'll have to try to find a cheap source of protein and stock up. Too darn hot here to cook though.
