I have been going to the gym 3 times a week and working out for 1 hr which includes weights for exactly one month to date. I also brisk walk 3 days a week. I have lost 7 pounds and I feel really good!!!! I thought I would lose 1 or 2 pounds a week which would put me at losing 10 lbs by now. Is it because muscle weighs more ? I gained one pound this week and then lost 1 pound within 3 days. I wanted to have lost 2 more by now. What do you think???

I think you are doing great! The scale varies every day and could go up depending on diet, water intake, new exercises....the list goes on and on. Keep moving towards a healthy lifestyle and it WILL pay off!

I think you're doing great!! I've found that the scale is weird. I've been at this for 2 months and have a LOT more weight to lose than you do - so mine may come off a little faster - but some weeks it doesnt' seem to come off at all, then all of a sudden BANG 5 lbs. I know that calorie deficit is cumulative so there must be other factors involved. Water and food in my system, etc...

If you are hitting weight training that hard, you are certainly gaining muscle, and I've always heard muscle weighs more than fat - so if you are still losing you are that much further ahead, because I've read many posts on here where people start their exercise regime and begin to gain at first.

You are headed in the right direction - and your weight loss should be measured over a greater length of time then just days or weeks.

What you have done is amazing!

Are you using a tape measure to get your measurements? I was shocked to find that is honestly a great way to gauge your progress.

And you should be proud of your accomplishments. 7 lbs in a month is fantastic, and more importantly a healthy way to lose it.

 You are doing great, keep up the good work. And no muscle does not weigh more than fat, a pound is a pound! Just keep doing as you are! If you find you are in a slump losing then change up your excercises and what you are eating, that also helps!

Maybe it's a pound of muscle is more compact or smaller than fat? You are exactly right though. D'oh! :)
