I can still picture that commercial and the kid yelling at his dad.

Oh, the camp one is going to bother me. Wasn't it something like "Hi mother, hi father...."

    Where's the beef?

I can't think of it, still. But you're close! I think it was "Hello Mother, Hello Father, Greetings from Camp Hiawatha" something's "fun here..."

the original song was from a 1963, i was 2!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hello_Muddah,_Hello_Fadduh

Oh crap. That's all I got.

The Simpsons version - Hello mother, hello father, here I am at, camp granada. (marge, is lisa at camp granada?)

No idea if they're the right words, I just knwo it will be in my head all day now!

sorry my reply landed in the middle, song was from 1963, about a kid that goes to camp and htes it, writes a letter about how bad it is, but in the end it gets "betta"

Here are the original lyrics to the song the commercial in question was based on.
I think it was for either laundry detergent or fabric softner because I remember there was a line about " ...but this place is not like home, I miss your nice fresh pillowcases."

    +Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh
    (A Letter From Camp)
    Hello Muddah, hello Fadduh,
Here I am at Camp Granada.
    Camp is very entertaining,
And they say we'll have some fun if it stops raining.
I went hiking with Joe Spivey.
    He developed poison ivy.
    You remember Leonard Skinner.
He got ptomaine poisoning last night after dinner.
All the counselors hate the waiters,
    And the lake has alligators.
And the head coach wants no sissies,
So he reads to us from something called Ulysses.
Now I don't want this should scare ya,
But my bunk mate has malaria.
    You remember Jeffrey Hardy.
They're about to organize a searching party.
    [From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/a/allan-sherman-lyrics/hello-muddah-hello-fadduh-lyrics.html ]
Take me home, oh Muddah, Fadduh,
Take me home, I hate Granada,
Don't leave me out here in the forest, where
I might get eaten by a bear.
Take me home, I promise I will not make noise,
Or mess the house with other boys.
Oh please don't make me stay,
I've been here one whole day.
    Dearest Fadduh, darling Muddah,
    How's my precious little Bruddah?
Let me come home if you miss me.
I would even let Aunt Bertha hug and kis me.
Wait a minute, it stopped hailing.
Guys are swimming, guys are sailing.
    Playing baseball, gee that's better.
Muddah, Fadduh, kindly disregard this letter!

"How many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop? One, two, three, crunch. The world may never know."

Here's one no one ever remembers except my family. There was a commercial about a family packing a suitcase. It was overstuffed and they couldn't get it closed. One of the kids said, "Get mom to sit on it, that'll close it". We said that all the time and it always pissed my mom off. LOL!

"Timex, it takes a licking and keeps on ticking."

I could go on forever, I watched way too much tv as a kid.

Mother, I'D RATHER DO IT MYSELF!

I can't believe I ate the whole thing.

Winston tastes good like a cigarette should.

“Meet the Swinger, the Polaroid Swinger. It’s more than a camera, it’s almost alive. Its only nineteen dollars and ninety-five. ..."

It's probably not proper that I find this commercial funny, but I crack up every time and my sister and I, who work for the same company, will sometimes quote it to this day...

"No, it's sexual harassment here..and I don't have to take it!"

Whatever it is I think I see becomes a tootsie roll to me!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qayjR8Qbyfc

I had the song "I'd like to buy the world a coke" in my head at work one night after seeing a coke box. Thought I was by myself and started singing, "I'd like to buyyyyyy the world a coke!" just as a someone came walking around the corner. ha

I loved all those old commercials mentioned! It was fun to get up early on Sat. mornings to watch tv and eat cereal. ha I don't even watch much tv now.

The first ones that came to mind...

"I don't want to grow up, I'm a Toys "R" Us kid. There's a million a toys at Toys R Us that I can play with..."

and the Big Red gum commercials where everyone just made out for hours. I loved that commercial when I was little!

"Say good-bye a little longer, make it last a little longer, give your breath long-lasting freshness with Big Red."

*sigh* I can't remember the names of all the U.S. Presidents, but these jingles are forever burned on my brain.
