Dead last Finish is greater than did not finish is infintely greater than did not start

I have to remember this on days like today

I went to run over my lunch hour, 5 miles on the schedule. it is so bloody hot & humid that after 2 miles I stopped running and turned around and walked back to my office.

I felt like I failed, but then repeated the above mantra to myself... over and over again.

Just posted in case anyone else feels like a failure, at least your doing something for yourself!

But you did something and that's the main thing. You did more than others who went to McDonalds drive thru for lunch! Be proud you did SOMETHING. :drinker:

2 miles is nothing to sneeze at! Yah for you...and you lapped the people on the couch. You're title is so right! Something is always better than nothing!

When I did my first half marathon I experienced a problem with my right IT band and ended up walking the last 7km. I just kept telling myself that DNF was not an option even if I had to crawl on my hands and knees.

But you're right DNF is infinitely better than DNS. I don't like running in the heat either, fortunately I'm an early riser and try get out the door around 5:00AM while it's still nice and cool(er)

    Way to go!!!

One time it was so hot that I had to run from shady spot to shady spot to make it home. Never again.

I run in the early mornings...good way to beat the heat :-)

    Congrats on getting out there!!

Unfortunately my mornings are tight. I get up at 5 to walk the dogs (have 3), go to work, come home to feed/poop the dogs and 3 nights a week I turn around and go to school after work... My lunch hours are my only time... I have a gym membership which I should have just gone on the treadmill today but it *seemed* decent out :)
  • thank you *hugs* much...needed...and appreciated.
