How do you stay motivated as a couple?

So 2 months ago, I found the MFP app for iphone and it caught my attention right away. About 4-5 days later, my husband just had to have the app on his phone too. It's gotten me to lose more and kept me fairly motivated. His goal was 25 pounds lost and mine was 100.
Now my husband has pretty much reached his goal and I still have 70 or so pounds to go. Both of us have lost 25-30 pounds so far. People are noticing... or at least, they are noticing HIS weight loss. I guess 25 pounds lost on him is not the same as on my bigger bulk. People react in such a way to his loss, that I have found myself getting kinda jealous even if I'm proud for him at the same time.
People just don't react to me that way... or even really notice.
Has anyone else had this issue to work threw on staying motivated while watching your partner in getting fit gets noticed?
The praise is what's really got him obsessed, which helps me keep going to the gym every day... but... how do you motivate yourself when you don't have that praise?
I'm so proud of all that we've done so far, I've gone father then I ever have and am lighter then I've been in... 10 years. But, unlike him, my journey has such a long road still and hubby has said he's sticking with me and making sure I don't give up. Which I love, but I need more then that I think. I need to figure out how to motivate myself.

when you consider how your goal versus your husbands goal compares, technically you have both achieved the same thing already, so that in itself is something to be proud of. As far as wanting reactions...sometimes we get caught up into the idea of instant gratification and become discouraged when we dont get it. Its like asking you if you expected to reach your goal after 1 workout...? the answr is obviously no, you knew it would take time. Consider this, while he is getting the immediate reactions now, you will ultimately receive more and bigger reactions in the long run. From what you have posted, your doing a phenomenal job already and you have nothing to worry about. Keep doing what your doing, keep improving your health and with time, you will be the one turning heads and your hubby will the be jealous one. ;-)0 -
I understand - my husband and I lost weight together. The difference? He lost 100 pounds and I lost 40 - you can better believe he looks much thinner/smaller and gets the feedback from people!
One thing I found frustrating was watching the scale - I hate the scale. So I started making goals for myself that were non-weight related. For instance, running a mile straight through, doing a 5K, running a 5k straight through, now trying to beat my time, upping how many miles I run, trying new exercise classes, becoming certified to teach a class, etc. All of these goals are still keeping me active and helping me lose weight, but they take the emphasis on what I haven't achieve (the scale number not moving) to what I can achieve. Sometimes when we take the pressure off ourselves to lose weight we actually lose it! So maybe find things that you and your husband can do together - and make those the new focus of your weightloss journey.0
