Can I really gain 5 lbs in a weekend?

So this weekend (Friday night, Saturday, Sunday, and a little bit Monday night) I ate a lot more than I normally do. I noticed that at first the scales didn't go up, they actually went down. But this morning they were up about 5 lbs higher than they were 2 days ago...
Is this actually from fat/weight gain? Or is it just water retention and bloating?

water. You'd have to eat 17,500 EXTRA calories above your maintenance calories to gain that much fat.

To gain a LB, you have to eat in excess of what your body needs...to the tune of 3500 calories PER LB.

Unless you ate 17 THOUSAND calories; no, you didn't gain 5 lbs

Bodies are odd, they fluctuate a LOT

I'd say it's water retention, and it'll probably go away :)

Honey based on your picture you look fine, with out without the extra five pounds  If anything just work on toning up and not worrying about the scale and you'll look even more fabulous!

Yep. Water. Did you eat a lot of sodium?
