Is it possible to lose 6 inches in ten days

Thoughts please?

I measured 10 days ago (3 times, to make sure it was accurate), weighed in today and didn't lose anything and measured today and there was a total difference of 6inchs (done again 3 times)

Is this possible or am I just a tape measure muppet?

Not entirely sure but it's logical that you don't have to lose lbs to lose inches. At least the weeks I'm not losing lbs I am losing inches.

It depends. How many sites did you measure? One? 12? 6" off one site like your waist might be a stretch but if you measured more, could be.

We're like bags of water, practically. We swell and shrink, plus you can pull the tape tighter or get it a little higher/lower each time.

I measure quite a few different places to be honest.... the loss was combined from 6 different places

I've been doing at the very least an hour a day on my exercise bike too, the majority of the loss was from hips and thighs

It's possible. I find myself in the same situation where I'm not losing weight but losing tons of inches. I'm also doing a lot of strength training so it could be that I'm gaining muscles weight...

Possible yes. But variables make a difference. Was the measurement made at the exact time of the day as the previous time it was measured? Did you eat the exact same foods the night before? Did you exercise before? Were the circumstances (no stress/high stress) the same? Was TOM around? Did you measure EXACTLY where you did before?

    Same time of day
    Same place yes .
    Don't have a TOM
    No stress
    Both times were after exercise

but different foods the night before

Are you right at the start of your new eating plan? There is a chance you dumped a load of water weight, but even then six inches difference seems immense. Possibly a combination of losing some inches and being a tape measure muppet :-)

So if sodium was higher in the "before" then water retention could have made a significant difference. That's not to say that you didn't lose some fat too in the after.
So combination of water retention the week before and a loss this week could give you a large measurement displacement.

I'll say that 6 inches sounds like a lot and it may not be 100% accurate, BUT one thing is for sure you lost a good deal and you should be incredibly proud of yourself. Losing 2 inches in ten days is amazing. So be happy!

6 inches combined? So what, like 1 inch from each place you measured?

It probably is possible, but it's also probably just water weight. My waist alone can go up or down 3-4 inches depending on what TOM it is.

Fyi, "buddy" is a casual endearment term used in the South, and isn't gender specific.
