Hello, all. My name is William, I'm 31 and from Springfield, MA. I've been various degrees of overweight for most of my life. Last year I got down to 224, which was a record low in my teen through adult life, but had since gained back about 20 pounds. My goal is to be around 185 (I think this would be my absolute minimum).
Exercise has always been a problem for me. Running/jogging at any pace winds me extremely fast, so I've been sticking to going for walks. I would like to work up to jogging though.
I'm hoping I can finally make these changes stick. The calorie tracking system here already makes it much easier for me to visualize how each thing I eat counts toward my daily calories which I believe should make this easier this time around

Thanks for the invite, William... I'll try to hold on as I best I can and keep pace. You have a larger range than I do, but a better diet than I. My love of carbs and sugars will be my Achille's Heel. I'll cut out the snacks and eat reasonable portions, but I'm not switching to salads or cutting my daily beer.
Coffee (Black: one cream, no sugar) and beer (preferably amber or black) keeps me sane.
Same story here with exercise. If I had to run or jog, I'd be dead when the first zombie apocalypse or robot uprising occurs. My only saving grace is endurance on a bike. I can bike 30-70mi in a day with steady resistance on 26' or 29' wheels.
Love the simplicity and ease of this site. Hoping between you and a few other friends, maybe I can make this stick?0 -
Rest assured, Ken, that my "better diet" evolved out of pure necessity (and a love for food). It's amazing what happens when you're on a really tight budget!0

William, I am in a similar boat so I have taken up cycling...doesn't seem to wind me as much and you can always stop pedaling and just cruise while you catch your breath...lol. I was at 235 and am trying to get to around 190, so we havwe similar weight goals as well. Add me if you like. I'll be more than glad to provide any support, encouragement or advice as I can. Good luck man!!! Dan0
