Hello, my name's Ken. I'm 39 years old and about to turn 40 in just a few months.
I was one of those tall-and-skinny kids growing up. Able to bike, run, hike, eat, and always stayed the same. I enlisted in the US Air Force when I was 5'11" and weighed 135lb. Remember "Captain America" when he first enlisted? That was me, skin & bones in 1992.
Fast forward "four years and too many beers" during my enlistment, I was honorably discharged in 96 weighing 168lbs. This is where I stayed for the next four years until I met my wife in 1998 and married in 2000.
Married life is much better than "bachelor chow" (I can grill, I can perform basic cooking, don't look to me for culinary delights). In our 12 years of marriage, I grew comfortable in how I ate and how I lived. Peaking at 202lbs last month, I'm at 196lbs today. My goal is 170-175 by December. If I can't do that, I'm giving my co-workers $300 to spend as they please.
In order to reach and maintain my target weight, I'm giving up my car. If I can't bike there or walk there, I'm not visiting there. You'd be amazed at how much weight you can burn if your own means of locomotion are your feet and a bike.
If you're local (Fairfax or Loudoun counties, VA), I'd love to have a friend to hike/bike/walk with.
As always, it's an honor and a pleasure to meet you. Hi, my name's Ken.
