Exercise Diary and Lifting Heavy

How do you log days when you lift heavy? I have been logging it as circuit training because that is what the gym calls their 15 torture machines and I have been doing 3 sets of 10 on each as heavy as I can. But not sure what to call that in my exercise diary. Any other people use something similar to lift heavy? How do you log it?

  • MFP suggests listing it as "strength training". If you're going through sets and reps with a heart rate monitor, you can get a good estimate of what the calorie burn would be. Otherwise, the site will not calculate it for you.

I tend to enter each set of exercises that I do under strength training, just so I can keep track. For example, yesterday I entered my sets and reps individually for bicep curls, tricep extensions, and lat pulldowns. Then I entered "strength training" in the cardio section and entered my calorie burn.

    Hope that helps!

Do any of you have an aerobics program that uses strength training? I have a few DVD's that do an aerobics style warm up then go back and forth from aerobics to reps with hand weights or resistance bands.... and I'm not sure if I should log it all as aerobics, or try to divide it up. Anyone else in this boat, or have some thoughts about it? :) Thanks!

I do not have a heart rate monitor and do not want to list each exercise individually as some of the machines are not listed under the strength training section.
