Reasoning sin is a very slippery slope. Very slippery. Like water on a breast slippery.
    Perfectly said!

Of course. If I steal a pack of gum, I might as well have murdered someone.

    I don't think so..

    Because check it:

Telling a lie burns less calories than coveting your neighbor's wife...or killing someone.

how many calories does adultery burn cause I have been on the fence...but if it will get me to goal weight i might have to go for it?

    :smooched:

My years of Catholic School taught me that there are two grades of sin: venial and mortal.

Venial gets you time in limbo if you die with the ir stain on your soul.

Mortal sins get you a ticket to hell if you die with a mortal stain on your soul.

Murder is venial an not going to mass on Sunday is Mortal.

See why I am an Episcopalian now?

Are all sins equal? Is commission just as bad as omission? Is murder just as bad as stealing a pack of gum?

My small bit of seriousness here....I think each and every sin is and should be weighed individually. If I steal from someone out of malice, and murder someone out of self-defense....who is to say which is worse?

    Just a thought.

Killing someone in self-defense isn't actually called murder.

yes. sin is sin. the difference is only in how it affects others. obviously murder effects more people in a worse way than stealing gum but wrong is still wrong. its a condition of the heart and shows none of us is better than another because we all sin

No. The only real sin is homosexuality. That's why I always end any questionable statement with "no homo" so that everybody knows what I really mean.

"hey, your butt looks great from doing all those squats. No homo."

    or

"Gosh, I really wanna **** a dude. No homo."

No. Murder is not OK. That's what the word means. It's not the same as killing.

All sins are equal only in the sense that sin is what separates us from a relationship with God. No matter the actual sin, we have pushed ourselves away from God.
