Hi all. I'm switching to a low carb pescatarian diet. I've been pescatarian for 14 years and I wanted to lower my carb intake but I don't want to lower my fiber. Are there any good suggestions?

I thought veggies were the best fiber source available... Just eat plenty of them and you should be good?0

They are and I plan on it but veggies can also be high in carbs too. My goal macros is 25 carbs/ 45 protein/ 30 fat so I'm not doing anything atkins related. I found some metamucil drink powder that's fairly low in carbs0

If you want a low carb fiber hit, psyllium husk. Tastes weird, is a pain, and I've taken it. How much fiber are you trying you get in a day?
I have 25carbs/40fat/35 protein and really don't have an issue, and I don't even eat nearly enough veggies(working on that)0 -
I use Psyllium Husk Capsules, no sweetners or anything added.0

being vegetarian I have a hard time keeping it low carb...any ideas on that? Are fruits included in that low carb diet?0

I eat lean dairy, fish and seafood, fruits like berries, and tons of veggies. My dairy is open for today if you want to take a look. :happy:0 -

Most fruit has fair bit of carbs (e.g. apple around 20) so it's hard to keep it very low carb getting fibre from fruits0 -
thanks to both of you, I will check out some more diaries that always helps. I'm hooked on apples so I need to stop that.0

Bump because I want to see more people's suggestions0

Nobody has got fat from eating apples ... Look, I limit my carbs and I try to treat fruit as dessert (as I am still in the 'attack' phase, the rules will slacken in time) but if you are really limiting processed junk and grains then I really don't see reasonable apple consumption being an issue.
The carbohydrate in an apple (fructose) comes packaged with plenty of other good stuff.
Nobody has got fat from eating apples (did I mention this? )0 -

Have you tried chia seeds? Psyllium husks will totally rip up your gut if you have any sensitivities/gut issues at all. Chia seeds have a ton of fiber, as well as other nutrients like omegas, but don't make you feel bad. I stir mine into kombucha for a weird gelatinous drink.0

Thanks DeadVim..I guess your right, nobody has ever gotten fat from aplles, lol. too funny!0

We have a fresh market opening this summer and it's just around the corner , I will be buying me some of those chia seeds. I guess you can add them to drinks as well as jello, oatmeal and things like that too, am I right?0
