I can't see your diary, but maybe you are trying too aggressively. Instead of giving up, why not set your goal for .5 down a week? That will give you more room to get used to it and keep you from undoing your progress or making it worse.

I understand. I went through that recently and it was really terrible. But if you give yourself more calories to play with, you may find you still have room for the food you are craving and take some of the power away from it all.

I felt the same way and spoke with my doctor about it. He actually referred me to an episode of South Park (weird, I know) where the father of one of the kids was an alcoholic, and throughout the episode he was talking about how he couldn't control it because it was a disease and not his fault. They had people stricken with cancer and paraplegics, etc, and he was considering himself sicker than them. The point of the episode was to poke fun at the premise of AA, I suppose, but I understood where the doctor was going with it- you may feel like you have no control, no willpower, and you aren't capable of overcoming this, but YOU ARE. Be honest with yourself all the time. You didn't gain weight overnight, and you won't lose it overnight. You won't be perfect 100% of the time because no one is! You have to learn to decide if the second slice of pizza is worth it, when you know you'll have to burn 500 more calories the next time at the gym.

What is helping me snap out of the same situation as you is that I now try and view food in terms of length of exercise to erase it. One extra slice of pizza per week translates to 100 extra calories to burn every time I workout. Sometimes it's worth it, sometimes it isn't. Just be patient and know that you can't unlearn years of bad habits overnight.

We're here for you, don't give up!!
