exercise points

I do not understand the exercise points or calories. they add to what you can eat daily and ups how much you can consume. Isn't it kind of going backwards of you consume what you burnt up in exercise ? I mean, won't you not lose as much, as fast or at all? Would love to know how others use this tool and any comments at all about this subject.

be prepared for all sorts of comments and such,,,
For myself as a rule I don't make it a habit to eat back my exercise calories - for the most part my workouts burn between 300-400 calories and I eat upwards of 1500/day...I don't feel the need to intentionally eat back those calories if I am not hungry. I have gone over my daily calorie allowences on days when I feel hungry after my workouts - but like I said it isn't a hard and fast rule. However I also am of the camp that there are differences in calories...i.e. a calorie is not a calorie...I eat a clean diet with lost of veggies, protiens and good fats - I feel I provide my body with good food full of essential nutrients it needs on a daily basis so if I am not hungry I see no need to eat more just to cover calories. I also don't see exercise as an excuse to eat...they are independant of one another to me - I exercise to work my muscles, to provide for good cardio vascular health
if you were eating at a bare minimum of say 1200 calories and burning some big numbers I would probably eat a bit back as yoru body does need the fuel.
Each person is going to be different...someone who is very overweight probably doesn't need to eat back because thier body has a good quantity of stored energy....someone who is closer in line to a decent weight for thier height, frame, etc...may need to eat back some to maintain enough fuel for your body to work properly.
Way back when I did do the whole "eat back your calories" and did it for 3 weeks - I didn't notice any difference - it wasn't helping me loose anymore weight then when I didn't and I found myself eating stuff just to eat it rather theen being hungry for it.
Like I said I will eat if I am hungry but not a hard and fast rule...0 -
I used to, but found that I was struggling to lose weight. If I do a major workout (1000-3000 calories), then I might allow myself to have 500 or so back, but I just don't lose if I eat more. Right now, I'm pushing myself to stay at 1,200 a day, whilst burning off a minimum of 2000 a day just for a few days, because I have my leavers ball next week, and before a big event it seems good not to eat them back. So basically, it's your choice!0
