I'm saddened... Discipline, Children, & Bananas

I’m still in a funk… let’s first start by putting out there my foul mood.

It’s no surprise that our society is kinda f*cked, but the two recent stories of children this week are so upsetting. On one hand, you have children behaving MISERABLY and bullying the elderly school bus monitor to tears (Karen Huff Klein). Even the other adult driver and other adult on the bus do nothing. And who can blame them? They are directed not to intervene. It’s for fear of lawsuits, the mob mentality of what was happening, their policy not to do so, etc…

On the flip side, you have a teacher that had kids line up and slap the class bully to teach him a lesson. She is fired, and the parents are seeking additional retribution for her actions.

I’m having trouble resolving my feelings about discipline and bullying… but this whole thing is screwed up. Depressing rant over…

    It's definitely a problem that's only getting worse. I still say zero tolerance is a bunch of crap. Back in the day, the kids got together and took care of a bully (without the teacher setting it up). Now, standing up for yourself will get you kicked out of school. It's sad!

    Fun fact: NYC public school teachers are allowed to physically discipline children, but they don't because it's involves a bunch of paperwork.

    While I would love to bring you a banana, I am also all out of bananas. This is why I came here seeking the advertised bananas.

    If my kids get kicked out of school for standing up for themselves then so be it! Bullies suck!
