Or you might end up eating a breakfast which weighs the same as a small child.

6000 calories on one plate.

WOW! Completely off topic but I just had a flashback to a childhood holiday there when I was 3, I couldn't pronounce the name, for years I though it was called Break Your Arm Off

I could so have a damn good go at that.

I managed 10 rashers of bacon, an entire french stick (like the large ones that are half the size of you) 5 sausages and 4 eggs on sunday, could have probably rammed a little more in but I didn't want to be sick. Perfect recovery food!

    That's a breakfast and a half lol.

I've seen a few decent sized breakfasts where we live, but that is just over the top.

I used to eat a full english almost every weekend. I stopped having them for quite some time during last year because I wanted to drop some weight. Had one probably before Christmas and I just didn't enjoy it. It was way too salty and it gave me stomach pains.

I can eat eggs, sausage, bacon, etc but I do it all at home and grill it. I have turkey sausage, scrambled egg or omelette and bacon is grilled. Tastes better and I know how many calories it is. It also tastes less salty.

    Oh to add to this..

Southern Eleven are doing a promo this weekend, Manchester vs Food.

£26 apparently it's 1 kilo of food plus chips.

I'm SO gonna take it. I've eaten a whole chicken to myself with 4 bread rolls that should be easy!

I saw that last night too. It was ridiculous and so wasteful. the bloke said that virtually nobody gets through it - so why bother? I just don't get that kind of overeating challenge. makes me feel sick. greed, wastefulness - not things I was brought up to believe were good!

In my twenties I could eat that with no problem at all, mind you I did go to the gym for 3 hours after work, work a hard manual physical job, cycle everywhere, and live in a hotel for 10 months of the year.

I saw the programme last night as well. I could feel my artery's clogging just watching it. There was enough on that plate to feed at least four possibly six people.

It was very interesting though and explains why supersizes are so profitable for the food industry and why people eat more than normal portions when given the choice. It is down to us feeling we are getting good value for money. We would rarely pay out the same amount again for a second helping but will gladly pay a little extra for a larger portion. Which amounts to almost the same amount of food/calories as a second helping would.

Go back to normal size portions I say.

Another interesting thing was they did a study confirming that children are just as active now as in the 30's, it is the food they eat that causes the weight gain and the weight gain that causes them not to excercise. They stopped funding to this study and shelved the report due to pressure from the food industry. Because the food industry likes the idea that obesity is due to lack of excercise so they can then deny any responsibility for the obesity crisis.:grumble:

It was all the political stuff that I was most interested in - how successive governments have bent to the will of the food industry lobbyists - with that and the whole Murdoch thing going on at the moment you really do wonder who is running this country, and indeed the world!
