Compulsive Overeater need support....

Hi everyone.
I am a 32 yr old mom of two and lost 35-40lbs about 2 yrs ago. I maintained my weightloss for about 1 yr consistently, but over the last year have been struggling with compulsive overeating/binge eating, I work out 5-6 days a week with videos, elliptical and usually 1 spin class a week.
As far as the overeating is concerned it is becoming a real problem for me, Before if I would binge once in awhile and I wasn't that concerned but now it is several days a week. I can do really well for most of the day and then either the afternoon or evening I get out of control. It is almost as if I know I should stop but can't. I do it in private when my husband isn't around, I am ashamed and embarrassed but don't know how to stop. As of today I have decided to get my food for the whole day together in the fridge or cupboard so there is no question of what I should eat. I am also going to sit down with my husband and ask for his help.
Is there any tips anyone can suggest to help with this? I have looked into OA in my area but it doesn't seem to be very helpful.
Thanks

I am no expert in this area, but it sounds like you are doing the right thing by talking to your husband and by planning out your food for the day. A couple of things you might try if you feel like binging; drink a big glass of water, chew a piece of gum, get out of the house (take a walk around the block), brush your teeth...if those don't work, eat a few baby carrots with some hummus or another small, healthy snack, and go from there. Above all, stay accountable to someone--your husband, a close friend, or someone here on MFP. Record everything in your diary. Don't cheat, because in the end, you are only cheating yourself. Best of luck to you!0

i've had periods like this where i feel out of control at times.. normally if i get stressed or something is bothering me.. what worked for me is taking a step back remind yourself that its just a craving which will pass after about 20mins.. try to busy yourself doing something u enjoy, drink water.. great to get your husband on board, talk to him when u do feel your going to binge.. food is not the answer to lifes problem..quite the opposite.. it's your body and you only get one so take care of it!!
saying that i still do get the urge to binge but not as often as before.. it's something you just have to try and control .easier said than done i know but when you do get control of it the satisfaction is fantastic!
i know i just waffled on a bit there but hope at least one thing i said made sense.
best of luck with it x0 -
This hits home. I've lost more than 40 pounds twice now. The first time, I gained it all back. This time, I've gained back 20. And it's all because of my binges. I totally understand. One part of your brain is telling you to stop and but the other part always overrides it, telling you to keep going. And the feelings of shamefulness afterward...Yes. I understand.
